Ceramic Red-Necked Bird (named by Instagram, 'Podgkin')
I’d hazard a guess that this bird is related to a pigeon in some way but then also there’s a bit of a partridge or grouse in there-it’s very likely that I just don’t know my birds well enough to tell! But I do know it is fabulous! Made of pottery and signed (what I think reads) S.J. Timms, this beauty measures approximately 18 × 15 × 10 cm. She weighs 560 grams. She has a lovely quality to her and has been hand-crafted with great skill.
When I first adopted this lovely piece, I felt she needed a name. Lots of suggestions were sent in from The Cambridge Flea’s followers on Instagram and as spinning selector wheel was created. The outcome was (with some negotiation) ‘Podgkin Vaginica Pertula’! You may decide to change her name if you take her on-that is up to you, of course. She is very well behaved.
