Early Aller Vale Pottery Pinch Jug Torquay Ware
How exquisite! This small pinch jug from the Aller Vale Pottery (shape 987) comes slip decorated in a pale to mid blue floral/scroll pattern known as C1 Sandringham. The base colour is a creamy yellow. The whole piece is crazed but there are no chips or cracks that I can see which is remarkable given its age-the fact that it is unmarked and of white clay suggest this creamer was an early piece-from around 1893-1900. It measures 12 x 11 x 9 cm approx. It would be best used for display, I would think, rather than actual use, given its age. The inside appears clean. A beautiful piece for a collector.
